The colour palette and textures of this piece are inspired by the vibrant purple heather that covers swathes of Yorkshire's stunning moorland. Limonium perezii flower heads were used for both hills, the brighter purple flowers are the younger flowers whilst the pale purple and white tones come from older, faded flowers. The tree is made of alder cones - these are shaped like pine cones but come from the alder tree and are much smaller than pine cones.
